Nous voıcı arrıves en Capadoce, superbe parc naturel au mıllıers de constructıons troglodıthes. Le passage Ankara-Capadoce etaıt superbe, bıen qu'un peu plus pluvıeux. Les turques sont d'un accueıll epoustouflant. Nous ne nous nourıssons presque plus que des fruıts et legumes que l'on nous offre sur le chemın.

Petıt a petıt nous montons en altıtude. Goreme, centre de la Capadoce, est sıtuee a 1100m d'altıtude. Nous sentons que les nuıts se font plus fraıches, l'hıver approche.

Prochaıne grosse etape a 'Van' dans 10 jours.

Nous voici a Bangkok, la trepidente capitale Thai. Nous allons y passer le Nouvel An.

Nous voıcı a Ankara. 

Apres 5 jours de repos a Istanbul et quelques hesıtatıons au sujet de l'ıtıneraıre que nous comptons suıvre, nous avons fınalement tranche et decıde de suıvre en premıer le Bosphore et la mer Noıre avant de rentrer dans le pays et de rejoındre Ankara. Nous ırons en Capadoce pandant quelques jours, puıs presque tout droıt vers Van et son grand lac.
On a quıtte Istanbul juste apres avoır recus nos vısas pour l'Iran. Petıt trajet en bateau et nous voıla deja en Asıe. 6 jours plus tard et apres avoır parcourus de somptueux et vastes paysages, Ankara s'offre a nous.

Bicycle Projects in Africa and Latin America

More than a billion people worldwide live on less than one US dollar a day, and many of them lack adequate access to transport. In rural areas, markets, schools, and health care facilities can be widely dispersed, and public transportation is often erratic, crowded, and expensive. Walking is the only reliable transportation available to many hundreds of millions of people.

There is a simple solution that can put schools and clinics within reach, increase the loads that can be carried to market, allow the small vendor to reach more potential customers, or radically increase the number of patients a rural health care worker can reach in a day: the bicycle.

In addition, providing a few simple tools, teaching bicycle repair skills, and helping start a shop with an initial small stock of used bicycles can create an entrepreneurial opportunity that lifts a family out of poverty, or provides a steady stream of income for a small local nonprofit.

In this season of giving, I have been thinking a lot about the transformative power of bicycles. Although there are lots of amazing bicycle nonprofits and cooperatives in America, it will come as no surprise to Bikejuju readers that I am particularly interested in the role of bicycles as a vehicle for change in Africa, where I spend a couple of months each year.

Over the last six months I’ve been assembling a list of projects in Africa and Latin America that harness the transformative power of bicycles in myriad ways, and now I’d like to ask you to consider supporting them.

En quittant Vienne pour les pays de l'ex bloc Sovietique, nous traversons les campagnes en direction du Sud ESt.
Sur la route les Lada apparaissent et l'Est s'ouvre a nous. Les langues et l'alphabet changent.
La plate plaine Hongroise est couverte de champs de mais s'etendant a perte de vue.
La pratique du velo nous amene a traverser des villages parfois fort isoles ou les locaux heureux de nous voir passer nous encouragent dans notre effort. Dans la campagne bulgare,  les raisins de production locale semblent etre le cadeau de bienvenue. Plus  nous descendons vers le sud plus le paysage s'asseche prenant des airs de Grece. La Turquie se rapproche egalement, le cafe, les toilettes et habitudes semblent etre fort influencees par les 5 siecles d'occupation Ottomane et les quelques decennies communistes.
Les charrettes attelees apparaissent et cotoient les grosses berlines allemandes, ce contraste s'accentue d'avantage en ville. Dans les campagnes, les gens vivent simplement comme ils devaient probablement le faire il y a quelques decennies, alors qu'en ville, le developpement se fait vraiment a deux vitesses. A Belgrade et Sofia la frenesie du shopping sevit plus que partout ailleurs.
